How we write our guides

Our guides are written to help you plan a move, not to sell you anything. Here is how we make sure they are accurate and up to date.

Who writes them

Guides are written by the CompareMover team, drawing on hands-on experience in UK removals and logistics and on what customers and removal companies tell us. Removal companies in our network do not write or pay for our guides.

Where the facts come from

  • Taxes, fees and rules come from official sources such as GOV.UK, HMRC, Revenue Scotland, the Welsh Revenue Authority, local councils and Royal Mail.
  • Rules for moving abroad come from GOV.UK and the official sites of the countries concerned.
  • Prices are typical ranges for guidance, not offers. Your quotes depend on your move.

Checking and updating

  • Every guide shows the date it was last reviewed.
  • We review guides when rules change (for example Stamp Duty rates or renting law) and at least once a year.
  • Guides about money, property and the law explain the basics only. For advice on your own situation, speak to a solicitor, conveyancer, mortgage adviser or the official body named in the guide.

How we use technology

We use AI writing tools to help research and draft some of our content. A person on our team reviews every page and checks facts, prices and rules against official sources before it is published, and again when it is updated. If you spot something that is not right, please tell us.

Independence

We earn money when removal companies receive leads, never from how a guide is written. No company can pay to be recommended in a guide. Read how we make money.
