Restaurant and café removals

Restaurants and cafés move when they relocate, refit, open a second site or close one. The kitchen is the hard part: ranges, combi ovens, fridges, freezers and extraction equipment are heavy, awkward and often need disconnecting by a qualified engineer before the movers arrive.

Tell us what you are moving and when you need to reopen. Up to 5 removal companies with commercial experience will quote.

What gets moved

  • Cookers, ranges, combi ovens and fryers
  • Walk-in and upright fridges and freezers
  • Stainless steel tables, shelving and sinks
  • Dining tables, chairs, banquettes and bar stools
  • Point-of-sale systems, screens and coffee machines
  • Crockery, glassware and dry stock

How to plan it

  • Book a Gas Safe engineer to disconnect gas appliances, and an electrician for hard-wired kit. Removal companies do not do this.
  • Run fridges and freezers down and defrost them 24 hours before the move.
  • Pack glassware and crockery in dividers or crates, not loose boxes.
  • Plan the move for your quietest day, or overnight, so you lose as little trade as possible.
  • Check the new premises' access: rear doors, lifts and stairs to basement kitchens.

How big is your move?

SizeWhat to expect
Small premisesOne or two vehicles, often an evening or a Sunday
Medium premisesA survey, a written plan and a crew of four to eight
Large or multi-siteA project manager, phased moves and specialist equipment

Frequently asked questions

Can movers disconnect our gas equipment?

No. Gas appliances must be disconnected and reconnected by a Gas Safe registered engineer. Book one for both ends.

Can the move be done overnight?

Many commercial movers work overnight so you can trade the next day.

Will fridges work straight away after the move?

Most need to stand upright for several hours before being switched on. Check the manufacturer's guidance.
